What is RadioOpium.com
RadioOpium.com (Radio Opium) used to be a great radio station on MP3.com (ranked
#1 of all radio staions of all genres for awhile in 2001). Unfortunately when
MP3.com died, so did all the radio stations. I'm now trying to do a little more
with RadioOpium.com and hope to post some old and new Featured Artist
Selectections. I was very glad to work with some great artists like DJ
Drunken Master who went on to do work on The Animatrix.
Bassic, who was an MP3.com fan favorite. I was lucky to find Mukelo just at the
end of the life of MP3.com and their The Owl Mechenoids Track which I am listening
to right now as I write this. Carbon Based Lifeforms were the reason I started
the Radio Opium radio station in the first place. I had to find more music like
that and I came up with the idea that if I started a station featuring the best
Tech Ambient (upbeat) that it would attract suggestions of other great tracks
that should be includeded on the station's playlist and that is EXACTLY what
happened. I feel very fortunate to have the library of independent music that I
do because of it. Others who earned the monthly Featured Track spots include
Complexsystems, Cosmis Embracement, Garry Judd, Fisi Music, BlueTonicWorld,
Anaphylaxis, H-Entity, Jacob Bell, Loop Kombinant, Mambo Taxi, Misnomer,
Mystical Sun, Nebula Drone, Notch, Ohm Studio, Pamplemousse, Red Joy Reid (now
listening to her Drafia track!), Sanjiva, Signal Generator, Stargarden, Steve
Roach, Surfer, The Spastic Society, Tsarew, Unknown Operator, Vir Unis, Wave
Cinema, XSized, and finally, saved for last, Kelvin Smith. There were so many
tracks by Kelvin that I enjoyed.. It was a great honor to converse by email
regularly with Kelvin and I sincerely hope that he and all the rest of these
artists are still making their awesome music. They are so talented and they
inspire me to try to express my own artistic impulses even when I don't think I
am able or worthy. Good luck to you all!
